So if you remember back in January when we had to cancel our 10 Year anniversary trip up to Midway, we were finally able to reschedule it. My sister was gracious enough to take my 3 kids the first night and then Noelle kindly took Caitlin for the day on Friday. Thanks Kristy and Noelle!
We headed up to Johnson Mill. Everybody that I had talked to said they LOVED it. We ate dinner at a local restaurant...it was okay, nothing too fancy. Silly me didn't look in my Gold C book for any coupons until we got in the car to leave, we could have had a free meal! I felt too stupid to walk inside and cause a scene over $12. After dinner it sounded really tasty to go grab some ice cream somewhere. When we walked into a little old building along main street, they apparently were closed (at 8:00) and were having a meeting. So we scratched that idea.
Apparently there was a couple staying at Johnson Mill who wanted to show their kids where they got engaged. They were running around ALL night!
#1 - Who takes their kids to a bed and breakfast? Isn't it a chance to get AWAY from your kids? #2 - Do your kids really care where you got engaged? Maybe when they are over the age of 12 -- but a 3 or 5 year old??? #3 - If you're going to be bringing your kids to a place like that, have some respect for the rest of the people who went to GET AWAY from their kids. There was even a sign at the front of the building saying to Enjoy the Quiet.
The host guy never told us what time breakfast was. Supposedly, this was the best part of the stay...which I was looking forward to. Of course without kids, you want to take advantage and sleep in a bit. So we woke up at 9:30 got all ready and was down there by 10:00 am. The kitchen and table were spotless. Apparently they had breakfast at 9 am SHARP. How lovely is that? I wasn't very happy to say the least. We immediately left and tried to find the nearest breakfast place...McDonald's was it. It was around 10:30 when we pulled up through the drive-thru -- as Ken says "Yes, I'll have one egg mcmuffin"...the voice on the other end rudely stated "We are serving lunch now!". Needless to say we didn't get any breakfast that morning and couldn't have left that city any faster. It was still fun spending time with my hubby even though everything didn't work out the way I had planned or hoped for. We tried to make it up by going shopping at the Park City outlets....it helped a little :)

Oh Brindy, that doesn't sound too fun! I almost felt bad for you until I read how you slept in until 9:30! I would skip breakfast any day for the chance to do that. Happy late anniversary anyway! All of your new posts are so fun.
Oh shoot! That is too bad about the breakfast thing. I'm glad you found solace in shopping. It is always one of my favorites. Happy be-lated anniversary!
Thanks for the note about visiting teaching :)
It sounds like a super weekend- one of these days I'll talk matt into going somewhere :)
ooh buggeth, that is one fine weekend of "not so much".
At least you have a story to share! That sounds similar to a 'get away' Bart and I had. We ended up eating at McDonalds too...after breakfast. We had apple pies and yogurt parfaits. Bummer. I guess it's true what they say about the early bird catching the worm!
