I just spent 1/2 hour cleaning up -- folding laundry and putting things in their place. My friend, Candice, gave me a good idea to do 1/2 hour clean up sessions, it worked out great! As long as I knew I wasn't going to have to clean all afternoon. :) Thanks for the idea. I quickly sat down to post a few pictures however, there is some technical difficulty on the site, so I'll have to do those a little later. My mouse also ran out of batteries and Ellie woke up...so maybe I'm not suppose to do this now. :)
I was able to get my Visiting Teaching done today before the end of the month hit. It's always a plus to get that checked off my list. I am fortunate to be partners with my next door neighbor, who is inactive. She is a wonderful woman and I am grateful that she is so willing to come along to visit other sisters in the ward to form that connection with them, which I think we all need. This month the lesson is on "Marriage between a Man and a Woman Is Ordained of God". It's a wonderful lesson on why marriage is ordained of God and also what our responsibility is in a marriage. A few things that they suggest to strengthen a marriage are to show appreciation, which includes giving compliments to your spouse and finding the good in them. Also to Communicate....set aside private time to listen and to talk to one another. And to Contemplate....frequently attend the temple and to hold family scripture study. None of these things are new to us...but it helps us to be reminded of them so we can try harder to be a better spouse. I am grateful for the reminder.
Afterward when I went to pick up my kids from a neighbors house she told me about some news of two couples who used to live on our street -- they are both getting a divorce. I was shocked and heart broken. It brought me back to the lesson I just taught that you have to nourish your marriage or it won't grow. We spend so much time focusing on our children that we tend to push our husbands aside. I am extremely grateful for my husband and for everything he does for our family. He is always picking up my slack when it comes to house work. He is a fun dad for our children and can always come up with creative things to do with them. He compliments me often and shows his love & affection -- even when I do not. He's a great supporter and works very hard....which includes taking over when I am gone a couple nights a week. Thanks for all you do babe, I LOVE YOU!!
